About Chandigarh
Chandigarh is a union territory of India which is also the capital of two Indian states Punjab and Haryana. Its name means Fort of Chandi, it is derived from the group Chandika, a temple of Chandi, of the Hindu goddess Durga. This temple is still located in the city. It is also called City Beautiful.
The city was named after Chandika as Durga and the temple of Chandi is still the city’s religious identity. Former Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru has also had a personal interest in building this city. Who created this state seeing Chandigarh as a modern progressive vision of the new nation.
